APSPDCL Reminder On Free Power For Vinayaka Mandapams
APSPDCL will provide free power for Vinayaka mandapams up to 3 kW in rural areas and 5 kW in urban areas.
As per the AP government directives, Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (APSPDCL) will provide free electricity to Vinayaka Chavithi mandapams up to a load of 3 kW in rural areas and 5 kW in urban areas.
Announcing this on Friday, APSPDCL chairman and managing director (CMD) Siva Sankar Lotheti said mandapams requiring power beyond the prescribed limits will have to pay the applicable charges as per rules. He advised organisers to approach the nearest Assistant Executive Engineer’s office to obtain temporary electricity connections.
Lotheti asked organisers to follow electrical safety measures while setting up mandapams and decorations. Mandapams should be installed at a safe distance from electrical poles and wires, with no electrical wires passing over them. Only quality electrical equipment and suitable-capacity wiring should be used, particularly for high-wattage lights. Decoration work should be carried out by qualified electricians.
The CMD asked organisers to protect electrical equipment from rain and not touch equipment that has become wet. During idol immersion processions, they should coordinate with electricity department personnel while crossing overhead power lines.
Lotheti advised the public to stay away from snapped or hanging wires. They should immediately inform electricity officials or call the toll-free number 1912. He instructed superintending engineers of the respective circles to create awareness among mandapam organisers about the necessary precautions to be taken for safety.
