APSPDCL completes 2,049 solar installations, says CMD Santosh Rao

Tirupati: The Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Ltd (APSPDCL) has successfully completed 2,049 services under the Prime Minister's Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. This is resulting in the generation of 7,454 kW of solar energy. The announcement was made by its chairman and managing director, Santosh Rao.

Celebrating Republic Day on Sunday, the CMD hoisted the National Flag and addressed a gathering, emphasizing the sacrifices of those who led the struggle for Independence -- several of whom having attained martyrdom.

Highlighting APSPDCL's achievements in renewable energy and customer service, he stated, “SPDCL has established experimental rooftop solar systems in Naravaripalle, Rangampeta, Chinna Ramapuram and Kandukur panchayats, serving 2,330 families or other entities. Expansion plans include a project for the Kuppam division, which will benefit 103 entities.”

He said APSPDCL has pioneered the development of the first-ever battery-integrated and battery-free four-in-one DC system for substations. This has been patented. Other innovations include the introduction of an LC mechanism, time-bound activities and remote disconnection or reconnection features for smart meters, all of which have received patents.

“The discom has also made strides in energy efficiency, with the installation of a 100 kVA energy-efficient Robust Distribution Transformer in Mangalam, Tirupati. This marks a significant step in APSPDCL's goal to modernize the grid and reduce power losses”, the CMD stated.

Rao assured the consumers that the company remains committed to providing uninterrupted power supply to the 11.95 lakh farmers in its service area, with quality electricity available from 9am every day. APSPDCL also introduced a toll-free customer care system, he said, and announced the experimental launch of a QR code-based bill payment system in Tirupati and Kadapa.

The R-Day event saw the honouring of several APSPDCL employees for their exceptional services. Directors P Ayub Khan, Y. Lakshmi Narasaiah, and chief Vigilance officer Janardhan Naidu, along with employees, attended the ceremony.
