Nellore: APNGOs Association state leader A. Vidyasagar on Thursday demanded the immediate repeal of the new Labour Codes and the PFRDA Act, alleging that they dilute the rights and social security of employees, workers and pensioners.
Addressing a lunch-hour demonstration organised by the Nellore district unit of the APNGOs Association in support of the nationwide strike call given by central trade unions, Vidyasagar urged both the Centre and the State government to protect employee interests.
He demanded the immediate constitution of a Pay Revision Commission and clear steps towards scrapping the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) and restoring the Old Pension Scheme (OPS).
Vidyasagar also sought an increase in the retirement age of public sector employees to 62 years, regularisation of contract employees, extension of welfare benefits to outsourcing staff, and resolution of promotion-related issues concerning ward and village secretariat employees.
Several leaders of employee associations and trade unions participated in the protest.
