Visakhapatnam: The Andhra Pradesh Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited (APEPDCL) has reached a significant milestone by installing 10,000 rooftop solar plants for consumers under the PM Suryaghar scheme. According to Chairman and Managing Director Prithviraj Immadi, this initiative has received an overwhelming response, enabling households to transition to grid-connected solar energy with central government support.

With a total installed capacity of 33,556 kW, the project has attracted ₹77 crore in Central Financial Assistance, promoting renewable energy adoption.

APEPDCL has conducted widespread awareness campaigns to promote adoption. To be eligible, consumers must have at least 100 sq ft of usable rooftop space. Subsidy rates are: ₹30,000 for a 1 kW system, ₹60,000 for 2 kW, and ₹78,000 for 3 kW. A 3 kW system can generate 360 units per month, and excess energy can be sold back to the grid.
