Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) on Tuesday conducted gram sabhas in Ainavolu and Malkapuram villages as part of the ongoing land acquisition and land pooling activities for developing the capital city of Amaravati.

APCRDA additional commissioner A. Bhargava Teja attended the meetings along with Capital City (Lands) director N. Vasantha Rayudu and other senior officials.

Addressing villagers, Bhargava Teja explained that land pooling is being undertaken for construction of infrastructure projects and roads in the capital city region. He said that while several farmers are taking part in the land pooling process, some are yet to come forward.

The APCRDA additional commissioner said multiple rounds of discussions had been held with farmers before issuing notifications for the land acquisition in accordance with the prescribed legal procedure. He clarified that farmers whose names have been included in the land acquisition notification still have an opportunity in case they want to opt out of land pooling within the stipulated deadline.

The officials requested farmers of villages falling within the capital region to cooperate with APCRDA for developing the capital city.

During the gram sabhas, villagers raised several concerns before the officials. Responding to them, Bhargava Teja assured that their problems would be addressed in a phased manner in accordance with the state government’s directives and priority requirements.

APCRDA advised farmers who have received returnable plots under the Land Pooling Scheme to complete their registration process with the competent authorities.

Those who participated in the gram sabhas include special deputy collectors B. Sai Srinivasa Nayak and P. Madhusudhana Rao, apart from other APCRDA officials.
