Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Youth Congress and the National Students' Union of India are set to launch a hunger strike here on Saturday, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

The protest is aimed at the alleged nationwide examination paper leaks and the lathicharge on students at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. The hunger strike is scheduled to begin at around 11 am at Dharna Chowk in Vijayawada, according to a note issued by the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee.

On Friday, several educational institutions across Andhra Pradesh remained closed in response to a bandh call given by Left-affiliated student and youth organisations protesting alleged irregularities in the conduct of the NEET examination.
