AP Wakf Records Transfer Set To End Decade-Long Delay

He said AP Wakf Board teams had already begun the process of identification, inventory and takeover of the records.

Vijayawada: Crucial records related to the AP Wakf Board, which remained with the Telangana Wakf Board after the bifurcation of the state, are finally set to be transferred to Andhra Pradesh after nearly a decade of delay.

AP Wakf Board chairman Sheikh Abdul Aziz said the Telangana Wakf Board currently holds 2,971 AP-related files, eight Survey Commissioner report books and three gazettes. These records include survey forms, district-wise gazettes, board resolutions and other vital documents linked to Wakf properties in Andhra Pradesh.

Aziz said that although the Wakf Act, 1995, and Central government bifurcation guidelines mandated transfer of AP-related records, assets and funds to the AP Wakf Board, the process had remained pending for years.

He said AP Wakf Board teams had already begun the process of identification, inventory and takeover of the records.

Aziz added that efforts were also under way to recover pending cash balances, deposits and other dues amounting to ₹55.5 crore owed to the AP Wakf Board.

He said the breakthrough was achieved following the intervention of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and minorities welfare minister N. MD Farooq.

Aziz explained that he personally pursued the issue after assuming office by meeting Telangana Wakf Board officials and holding several rounds of discussions.

He stressed that the records were essential for protection of Wakf properties, handling legal disputes and uploading details to the Unified Waqf Management, Empowerment, Efficiency and Development (UMEED) portal.
