AP Tops India by Creating 4.84 Crore Ayushman Accounts

Entry of the ABHA number in the computer will immediately provide all details of a patient, including treatment prescribed and lab reports, in digital format

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh has stood first in the country by creating 4.84 crore Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts (ABHA), covering nearly 96 per cent of the state’s population.

Secondary Health director Chakradhar Babu, AP Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission coordinator B.V. Rao and representatives of the Bengaluru-based Institute of Health Management and Research, told media persons in Mangalagiri on Friday that similar to the 14-digit number of Aadhaar card, ABHA cards have been designed for the health sector in the country.

Chakradhar Babu disclosed that ABHA has been synchronised with 7.50 crore electronic health cards, with AP taking up digitisation of records in a big way. As a result, AP has received a financial incentive of ₹22 crore beginning from April 2023.

The Secondary Health director said about 1,900 computers have been installed at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, PHCs, UPHCs, and secondary care and teaching hospitals. He observed that it will take some time for people to be fully aware of the benefits of ABHA number.

Entry of the ABHA number in the computer will immediately provide all details of a patient, including treatment prescribed and lab reports, in digital format. This will be beneficial for both doctors and patients, whenever the latter visit any health centre for medical treatment.
