AP to Issue Posting Orders to 392 Medical Officers Through Web Counselling
Postings will be allotted based on merit and the options exercised by candidates

Vijayawada: In a first, the Andhra Pradesh government will issue posting orders to 392 medical officers through a web counselling system aimed at ensuring transparency in appointments.
Health minister Satya Kumar Yadav said on Tuesday that the state health department has adopted web counselling in line with the National Health Mission's initiative to streamline the recruitment process and eliminate technical difficulties faced by candidates in earlier counselling methods.
The Andhra Pradesh Medical Services Recruitment Board has prepared a merit list of 392 MBBS-qualified candidates selected for appointment as medical officers on a contract basis. Postings will be allotted across six categories.
Of the total posts, 173 have been earmarked for urban health centres, 99 for community health centres, area hospitals and district hospitals to manage non-communicable disease clinics, 70 for newborn care centres, 12 for nutrition rehabilitation centres, 25 for telemedicine hubs and 13 for district early intervention centres.
Earlier, counselling was conducted through video conferencing, with candidates selecting vacancies displayed during the process. Officials said the system often resulted in technical issues and inconvenience to applicants.
Under the new web counselling system, candidates can submit their preferences online from among the vacancies displayed in the six categories. Postings will be allotted based on merit and the options exercised by candidates.
Health commissioner G. Veerapandian said registration of options will close on Wednesday. Posting orders are expected to be generated automatically, without human intervention, on Friday or Saturday.
He said candidates who receive appointment orders must report for duty by June 20.
