Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh school education department will organise the district-level Shining Stars–2026 awards ceremony across all 28 districts on Monday to honour 4,344 students who excelled in the 2026 SSC Public Examinations.

The programme will be held simultaneously at 10 am in all districts in the presence of district in-charge ministers, district collectors, public representatives and education department officials.

Director of School Education and chairperson of the Board of Secondary Education S. Tamim Ansaria said the awards were instituted under G.O. Ms. No. 25, School Education (General), dated June 6, 2025, to recognise academic excellence and encourage students to pursue higher educational standards.

A total of 6,18,131 students appeared for the SSC examinations conducted in March 2026, of whom 5,26,954 passed, recording an overall pass percentage of 85.25 per cent.

The selection process identified two students each from the OC and BC categories and one each from the SC and ST categories from every mandal based on merit. In addition, three Children with Special Needs (CwSN) were selected from each district. Eligibility required a minimum of 500 marks out of 600 (83.33 per cent) for students in the OC, BC, SC and ST categories, while CwSN students were required to secure at least 70 per cent marks.

Of the 4,344 awardees, 2,960 are girls and 1,384 are boys. The recipients include 1,452 OC, 1,534 BC, 721 SC, 556 ST and 81 CwSN students. Each awardee will receive a medal, a citation and a cash prize of ₹20,000.

The department said elaborate arrangements had been made for the smooth conduct of the programme. District education officials have been instructed to verify the list of awardees, inform parents and ensure that students reach the venues on time.
