AP To Give Ranks To PHCs Based On 21 Indicators
The health authorities have been instructed to ensure that apart from conduct of tests, there should be proper monitoring in medical treatment and other matters.
Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government would give rankings to the primary health centres by evaluating their performance based on 21 major indicators.
Health minister Satya Kumar Yadav in a statement here on Monday stated that the government had formulated new ranking and grading of PHCs. These, he said, are to be linked to health schemes like ‘Sanjivani, Matrutva Kshema’ so that the health care system at the village level would become more accountable, result-based and easy access to the people.
Some of the important indicators are: maternal mortality, caesarean delivery, teenage pregnancies, high-risk pregnants’ registration, health care services during pregnancy and deliveries in government hospitals.

Moreover, the ranking of PHCs also includes public opinion in the form of IVRS on health care services from the patients in the PHCs. The overall ranking out of 21 key indicators would be having four grades including A-80 to 100 per cent; B-70 to 80 per cent; C-60 to 70 per cent and D-60 per cent and more.
The minister said the ranking of PHCs would help identify lapses in some PHCs and initiate corrections to make them function properly.
