AP To Fully Support Tribal University Construction: CM
University officials informed the CM that while there was a requirement for 100 teaching staff, only 18 were in place. Naidu said he would write to the Prime Minister seeking an increase in staff.

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has said the state government would extend full support for swift completion of the Central Tribal University being built at Kuntinavalasa in Mentada mandal of Vizianagaram district.
On Tuesday, the university’s vice chancellor, Prof TV Kattimani and dean prof M Sharath, met the CM at the secretariat. They discussed the progress of construction etc.
Naidu noted that the central government has allocated `800 crore for the project, out of which `340 crore has already been released. The university is being constructed across 561 acres, with administrative buildings, hostels, and academic blocks in the works.
The CM advised the VC to complete all the works within a year. “The state government would offer complete cooperation for implementation of the project.” He promised to expedite works related to drinking water, electricity and approach roads. He asked officials to immediately begin work on these fronts.
When the VC said completing a 2-km approach road would be a great help, the CM promised him immediate commencement of those works.
University officials informed the CM that while there was a requirement for 100 teaching staff, only 18 were in place. Naidu said he would write to the Prime Minister seeking an increase in staff. The state would also request the PM to attend the university’s convocation scheduled for May.
The Tribal University was established in 2018 during the previous TD government’s tenure but has since been functioning in rented premises. After the present government came to power, special focus has been placed on the university’s development. Currently, around 600 students are enrolled in various courses.
The CM hoped that the student strength would rise once the permanent campus is ready. Naidu also urged the VC to ensure that teaching is aligned with skill development and employment opportunities. It must offer courses that meet current industrial and societal needs, he said.
