AP to Fill 913 ASHA Worker Posts Soon

Vijayawada:The Andhra Pradesh government will soon fill 913 posts of ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) workers as part of its zero-vacancy policy in the State’s health departments.
Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav said in a statement here on Monday that with the proposed recruitment of 913 ASHA workers, the government would have filled a total of 2,207 such posts over the past two years.
He said the recruitment was being taken up as per the norms laid down by the Central government through the district health societies, with the respective district Collectors serving as chairpersons.
The Minister said each ASHA worker would receive a monthly remuneration of Rs 10,000, of which Rs 8,320 would be borne by the State government and the remaining amount by the Centre.
He added that the government was spending Rs 513 crore annually on ASHA workers, with the State contributing `426.84 crore and the Centre bearing the remaining amount.
