AP Targets Rooftop Solar In Every Home By 2029: MLA
Rammohan said the chief minister has introduced far-reaching power sector reforms that helped strengthen electricity generation and these were later emulated by several states.

VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh government is moving steadily towards installing rooftop solar systems on every household by 2029.
Stating this, Vijayawada East constituency MLA Gadde Rammohan on Friday called on citizens to adopt solar power to reduce electricity bills.
Rammohan said the chief minister has introduced far-reaching power sector reforms that helped strengthen electricity generation and these were later emulated by several states.
He inaugurated a three-day Solar Renewable Energy Expo organised by the state solar energy association here, along with NREDCAP managing director Kamalakar Babu. Around 50 solar energy companies are participating in the expo, showcasing a wide range of products.
The MLA said the state government was encouraging rooftop solar adoption without burdening people with higher power tariffs and is offering subsidies to SCs, STs and BCs. He urged eligible households to utilise these benefits and install solar systems.
Kamalakar Babu said power demand in the state is increasing daily, even as the government ensured quality supply. Rooftop solar systems would help reduce demand and electricity costs.
He said, “NREDCAP is implementing several initiatives to cover every household with solar power. The solar sector could create employment for nearly 20 lakh people and provide major benefits to farmers, with plans to solarise agricultural motors. Solar energy would also help cut pollution.
“SCs and STs are eligible for full subsidy, while BCs are also supported,” he added.
AP solar energy association president Hema Kumar announced that those registering under the PM’s Surya Ghar Yojana would receive a free 50-gram silver coin and five years of free service.
