AP Steps Up Preparations for Independence Day Celebrations
As the Governor, Chief Minister, ministers, judges, All India Services officers and other dignitaries are expected to attend the state function, officials reviewed security, protocol arrangements, seating plans and approach routes.
VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh government on Wednesday reviewed preparations for the state-level Independence Day celebrations to be held at the Parade Grounds in Rayapudi, Thullur mandal, with officials directed to complete all arrangements well ahead of August 15.
General administration department Principal Secretary J. Shyamala Rao inspected the venue along with CRDA commissioner Katamaneni Vijayarama Raju, Guntur district collector C.M. Saikanth Varma, Guntur superintendent of police Vakul Jindal, information and public relations director K.S. Viswanathan and other senior officials.

Shyamala Rao directed officials to ensure foolproof security with strengthened intelligence surveillance, extensive CCTV coverage and comprehensive traffic management. Separate parking arrangements were also ordered for VVIPs, officials and the public.
He instructed the CRDA and roads and buildings department to complete repairs to approach and internal roads before the celebrations. Officials of the Andhra Pradesh Central Power Distribution Company Limited (APCPDCL) were asked to ensure uninterrupted power supply, while district authorities were directed to provide adequate drinking water, sanitation and other public amenities.
The district medical and health officer was instructed to establish medical camps and keep ambulances on standby during the event.
Shyamala Rao also reviewed the printing and distribution of invitations and directed government departments to complete preparations for their tableaux highlighting development initiatives. He asked all departments to participate in the final rehearsal scheduled for August 13 and stressed the need for close coordination to ensure the celebrations are conducted smoothly and without incident.
Among those present were Joint Collector Ashutosh Srivastava, CRDA additional commissioners A. Bhargava Teja, Kollabattula Karthik and Abhishek, and Guntur Municipal Corporation commissioner Cheekuri Mayur Ashok.
