AP Shines At ODOP Awards, Wins Gold For Artisan Excellence

The ODOP 2024 Awards Ceremony in Delhi showcased the remarkable craftsmanship and rich cultural heritage of Andhra Pradesh, which received a gold medal.

Visakhapatnam:The ODOP 2024 Awards Ceremony in Delhi showcased the remarkable craftsmanship and rich cultural heritage of Andhra Pradesh, which received a gold medal.

This honour reflects not just the skill of artisans but also the deep-rooted traditions of nine districts that contributed to the state’s rich legacy.

The products that won praise included items such as the cashew kernels from Srikakulam, the enchanting Bobbili Veena from Vizianagaram, the beautifully crafted Chirala textiles from Bapatla, the flavourful Mirchi from Guntur, the elegant Venkatagiri sarees from Tirupati, the intricate Dharmavaram silk sarees from Sathya Sai district, the charming Etikoppaka dolls from Anakapalle, the traditional Narasapur base products from West Godavari, and the stunning Peddapuram silk sarees from Kakinada.

Each of these creations not only showcased the artistic talent of the artisans but also embodied the love and passion they poured into their work. Together, they reflected the vibrant traditions and the enduring spirit of the people of Andhra Pradesh.

Out of 29 national awards, Andhra Pradesh received an impressive ten, securing the top rank among all states. The ceremony was attended by Union minister Piyush Goyal, minister of state Jitin Prasad, Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta and Andhra Pradesh handloom and textiles minister S Savita.

Minister Savita said the ODOP initiative was not merely a branding campaign; “it’s a pathway to economic empowerment for rural producers.”

She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening rural self-reliance through targeted ODOP interventions, ensuring that traditional artisans have the visibility, resources, and support they need to thrive. Collectors from the nine districts received the awards.
