AP Sets Up 558 Control Rooms to Aid Public During Montha

Vijayawada:The Andhra Pradesh government has geared up its machinery to deal with Cyclone Montha, setting up 558 control rooms across the state to assist people in vulnerable areas.

These include one state-level, 19 district, 54 divisional, and 484 mandal/village-level control rooms, all operating 24x7 to respond to emergencies. For effective communication, 16 satellite phones and 35 DMR sets have also been distributed across districts.

A total of 2,194 relief camps have been prepared statewide, with special attention being given to 3,465 pregnant and lactating women to ensure their safety.

For relief and rescue operations, 11 NDRF and 12 SDRF teams have been deployed in vulnerable districts, while additional teams remain on standby at the state headquarters.

In NTR district, a Command Control Centre has been established at the Collectorate (Phone: 9154970454) with officials from the revenue, health, fire, water resources, roads and buildings, agriculture, and energy departments available round the clock.

Meanwhile, flight operations from Vijayawada have been affected. Air India Express cancelled its flight to Visakhapatnam on Monday and all services scheduled to Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Sharjah on Tuesday. Similarly, IndiGo cancelled all flights from Vijayawada after 10.35 a.m., except for one service to Delhi on Tuesday.
