AP Sanctions ₹337.90 Crore for HNSS Canal Lining Works
The sanctioned amount is substantially higher than the original administrative sanction of ₹158.19 crore for the works.
ANANTAPUR: The state government has accorded revised administrative sanction of ₹337.90 crore for lining the Handri-Neeva Sujala Sravanthi (HNSS) main canal from 260 km to 300 km, including a two-km tunnel, in Anantapur and Sri Sathya Sai districts.
The revised sanction, issued through G.O.Rt.No.554 by the Water Resources (Projects-III) Department on Monday, covers Package No. 2 of Phase-II of the HNSS project. The sanctioned amount is substantially higher than the original administrative sanction of ₹158.19 crore for the works.
According to the government order, the package includes canal lining from 260 km to 300 km and the tunnel section between Km 285.100 and Km 287.100. The Engineer-in-Chief (AW/IW), Andhra Pradesh, had submitted revised estimates of ₹339.50 crore based on the recommendations of the Committee of Chief Engineers.
After examining the proposal, the government approved the revised administrative sanction of ₹337.90 crore. Earlier, administrative sanction had been accorded for ₹64.20 crore for the Km 260–280 stretch in Anantapur, ₹57.80 crore for the 280–300 km stretch in Sri Sathya Sai district, excluding the tunnel portion, and ₹36.19 crore for the tunnel works, totalling ₹158.19 crore.
The Chief Engineer (Projects), Anantapur, has been directed to ensure the correctness of the provisions and rates and take further action for implementation of the works. The expenditure will be met under the Major and Medium Irrigation head relating to HNSS.
