AP Records Highest Net GST Collections at 3,554 Cr in April
Strong compliance, enforcement, and broader tax base fuel Rs 3,354 crore in net GST revenue.

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh has recorded its highest net GST collections of 3,554 crore in April, marking the highest revenue since the introduction of the AP Goods and Services Tax (GST) Act in 2017.
The state also registered its highest-ever revenue from the Integrated Goods and Services Tax (IGST) settlement, amounting to 1,943 crore since the APGST Act came into force.
The net GST collections in April 2025 saw an increase compared to April 2024. This growth is attributed to strengthened tax compliance, improved settlement adjustments, and an expanded tax base within the state. The increase is significant because net collections represent actual revenue accrued to the state after accounting for IGST settlements and other adjustments. While gross collections reflect the total tax paid, net collections provide a more accurate indicator of the state’s fiscal health by showing the revenue available for state expenditure.
The Centre deducted 796 crore from the IGST settlement for April 2025 under the “Adjustment of Advances Apportionment” to offset the shortfall in the IGST balance as of 31-03-2025.
Moreover, IGST collections indirectly affect the state's net revenues. Under the GST mechanism, IGST paid by taxpayers within the state is transferred to other states, which can reduce AP’s overall revenue share if taxpayers offset their SGST credit against IGST liability.
The commercial taxes department has reported a steady month-on-month increase in tax collections across multiple sectors during the second half of the financial year 2024–25. The figures are as follows: October 2024 – 4,126.28 crore, November 2024 – 4,258.55 crore, December 2024 – 4,046.02 crore, January 2025 – 4,394.92 crore, February 2025 – 4,427.99 crore, March 2025 – 4,667.76 crore and April 2025 – 4,946.21 crore
Chief commissioner of state tax, A. Babu, in a statement issued on Thursday, said several key measures contributed to the impressive tax collections. These include enhanced compliance in tax return filings, stronger enforcement strategies, and integration of defaulters’ asset and bank account details to recover arrears.
He added that the state government remains committed to enhancing taxpayer services and fostering a tax-friendly environment to support business growth.
