In Zurich, CM Urges Top Companies To Invest In AP
Chandrababu Naidu seeks cooperation of Indian Ambassador for Switzerland towards Swiss investments in AP
Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has urged top global companies to invest in sectors like pharmaceuticals, medical equipment etc in Andhra Pradesh, which he said has “plenty of opportunities.”
As part of his four-day tour to mainly take part in the World Economic Forum meet in Davos, Naidu arrived in Zurich on Monday along with education minister Nara Lokesh and industries minister T.G. Bharat as also a team of officials.
The Chief Minister called on the Indian Ambassador to Switzerland, Mridul Kumar, and sought his cooperation in encouraging top companies in Switzerland to invest in AP. Naidu explained to the envoy the investment opportunities and incentives being offered to such companies coming to the state with investment plans.
The ambassador informed the CM that Switzerland did well in sectors like pharmaceuticals, medical equipment manufacturing, making of heavy machinery, hardware-electronics, rail components, technical textiles and research.
Naidu explained to him that the state government had framed a set of 225 policies for promotion of industries and investments.
The ambassador recalled how successful was the CM’s visit to Davos in 2025, which fetched investments worth Rs 2 lakh crore for AP.
Naidu urged the ambassador to extend his support to the Telugus in Switzerland for their overall development. “We are according top priority for modern technology like AI and Quantum Technology,” he said.
The ambassador informed the CM that a tiny nation like Liechtenstein in Europe was flourishing well by using AI and that its representatives would take part in the AI conference in India in February. The CM confirmed the participation of AP in the conference and said that he would meet them there.
Naidu said, “At a time when the nations around the world are facing a severe shortage of human resources, India is ready to grab the opportunities with its large bulge of youths. India is an answer to the global shortage of manpower.”
He went on to add, “If Liechtenstein is doing well in AI, Andhra Pradesh is the number-one in India in promoting natural farming.”
Later, Naidu called on the founder chairman of Eros Innovations, Kishore Lulla, and explained to him the vast investment opportunities available in areas like AI Creative Tech, Generative AI, Deep Tech, Digital Content Economy etc in Andhra Pradesh. He told Lulla that the AP government was encouraging investments in sectors like digital media, virtual production, gaming, animation and film technology with the objective of creating large-scale employment opportunities for the youth.
Eros Innovation representatives explained their initiatives to Naidu with regard to Eros Gen AI, the Eros Universe Super App, an AI-enabled Film City and Virtual Production Studios. They also informed the CM that Eros Innovation was developing virtual reality-based tourism promotion programmes under the title ‘Discover Andhra Pradesh 360.’
The company chairman lauded the Chief Minister for his global vision and leadership and called him the ‘Davos Man Chandrababu.’
Naidu addressed the Telugu diaspora and explained to them about the major projects being initiated in AP. He said ArcelorMittal was setting up a steel plant at a cost of Rs 1 lakh crore and added that he laid the foundation for a green ammonia plant in Kakinada. AM Greenko would invest $10 billion in new units in AP.
The Chief Minister stated that the government was setting up industries that would generate power at low cost and added, “We are also purchasing power at low cost.”
Naidu said he was making efforts to get investments worth `22 lakh crore involving several agencies, and said that the aim was also to help generate 20 lakh jobs from these initiatives. He explained how his government availed technology like quantum computing, AI, space and drone technology, etc, and also how AP was now using drones for farming and health care purposes.
He called upon Union civil aviation minister Ram Mohan Naidu to accord early permissions for drone operations in AP.
The CM explained that the mix of quantum technology and biology would usher in a new revolution with Amaravati as its hub. The government had brought the global quantum bio-foundry under the purview of Amaravati Quantum Valley to help expand research work, he said, and wished that this would help come up with new innovations like medicines to treat chronic diseases, enzyme engineering, modern treatment methods, state-of-the-art medical equipment.
He said that in the quantum bio-foundry coming up in Amaravati, tech majors like TCS, IBM, CSIR, IIT (Delhi), Centella AI etc would become partners. “We are expecting huge foreign investments and high-value jobs and research-based companies,” he said.
Naidu appealed to the Non-Resident Telugus not to remain as employees and instead become employment providers by donning the role of entrepreneurs.
Telugus from 20 countries attended the Telugu diaspora event. Naidu told them that the state government had arranged a Rs 50 crore corpus fund to encourage NRTs to become entrepreneurs. The gathering, also including women and children, raised slogans and waved placards praising the Chief Minister. He presented medals to children who were winners in Sankranti festival competitions.
