AP Raises Retirement Age to 62 For PSU Employees
The order takes retrospective effect from January 1, 2022, bringing employees of these entities on par with state government employees

VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh government on Thursday enhanced the retirement age from 60 to 62 for regular employees of public sector undertakings, corporations and societies covered under Schedules IX and X of the Reorganisation Act, 2014.
The enhancement was notified through GO-Ms- 45 issued by the finance department. The order takes retrospective effect from January 1, 2022, bringing employees of these entities on par with state government employees.
The decision follows representations seeking parity after the retirement age of state government employees was raised to 62 under the AP Public Employment Act, 2022.
The government also considered court cases in which employees who retired at the age of 60 secured interim orders permitting them to continue in service until age 62.
Under the order, employees who retired on attaining the age of 60 will be re-inducted or allowed to continue in service up to age 62. The period between retirement and re-induction will be treated as a break in service without salary, but will be counted notionally for annual increments, seniority and promotions.
Employees who continued in service under court orders will be treated as having rendered regular service and will be eligible for all consequential benefits, including pension benefits.
Meanwhile, residential education societies have been asked to obtain concurrence from the finance department for any additional budgetary requirement.
Employees who do not opt for re-induction may continue to remain retired at the age of 60 under the existing rules.
