AP Permits State Hospitals to Purchase Remdesivir Injections, Covid-19 Testing Kits
The Andhra Pradesh government has authorised government hospitals to procure Remdesivir injections, Covid-19 testing kits and other essential supplies as part of preparedness measures amid a resurgence of Covid-19 cases.
The Andhra Pradesh government has given permission to purchase Remdisivir injections, Covid-19 testing kits and sanitisers to government hospital medical superintendents, locally, as part of preparatory measures to deal with the recurrence of Covid-19 cases.
Health secretary G. Veerapandian held a meeting with director of secondary health Dr Chakradhar Babu, director of medical education Dr Vishnu Vardhan and senior officials from public health and AP Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation here on Tuesday. He called for preparedness to effectively deal with the Covid-19.
As part of preparations, the health authorities have arranged 255 special Covid beds for 17 government teaching hospitals. Arrangements were also made in the secondary hospitals for setting up special Covid-19 beds as per need.
Moreover, 6,77,936 triple layer masks have been kept ready in all the teaching hospitals while 5.26 lakh masks are stocked in the central drug stores.
In addition to these, 58,790 N-95 masks, 4,436 PPE kits, 2,572 sanitisers have also been kept ready and adequate stocks like antibiotics, IV fluids and other medicines too, to treat infected patients.
Meanwhile, the APMSIDC issued orders for purchase of 51,700 RNI extraction kits, 27,552 RTPCR kits, PCR tips, filter tips, micro tubes, nitrile gloves and it is also making efforts to arrange an additional stock of Remdisivir injections 50 each for each teaching hospital in the state.
The health authorities said the state government has been closely monitoring the Covid-19 prevalence and advised the people not to panic about it. The people have also been advised to reach the nearest hospitals for tests in case they notice even minor symptoms.
In an earlier review meeting, health minister Satya Yadav said that the government kept the Covid-19 testing kits, medicines, special Covid-19 beds, essential drugs and protection equipment ready in the hospitals by working in coordination with all the stakeholders. He felt the need to test the suspected cases immediately and provide treatment based on need in the government hospitals.
