AP Panel to Tackle Pesticide Residue in Chilli Exports

Vijayawada:The Andhra Pradesh government has constituted a state-level committee to examine pesticide residue issues in chilli cultivation and recommend measures to promote residue-compliant chilli production and exports.
The committee, headed by director of korticulture Dr K. Srinivasulu, comprises officials from the horticulture and agriculture departments, representatives of Dr YSR Horticultural University, Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University, the Spices Board, the Chillies Exporters Association of India, and progressive chilli farmers.
The panel has been tasked with examining pesticide residue violations in chilli export consignments, identifying high-risk pesticide molecules, studying national and international residue regulations, and recommending corrective measures, including restrictions on specific pesticide use where necessary.
It will also suggest strategies to promote residue-compliant chilli cultivation and improve the export competitiveness of Andhra Pradesh chillies.
