AP: MoU Grounding Week To Begin From Monday

The officials have decided to allocate 40 minutes to each of the companies and the representatives have been informed of the date and timing, when they can hold discussion

The Andhra Pradesh government has initiated an innovative programme to expedite grounding of industries in the state.

Starting from Monday, an MoU Week would be held during which the officials would hold talks with a group of industrialists each day to ensure the grounding works begin at the earliest.

The officials would take a decision on all matters relating to the government and resolve issues within their purview. As many as 749 companies, relating to various sectors, underwent agreement with the AP government since the NDA coalition government assumed power. It is estimated that the MoUs would bring Rs 20 lakh crore investments and provide employment to 22.39 lakh people in the state.

The officials have decided to allocate 40 minutes to each of the companies and the representatives have been informed of the date and timing, when they can hold discussion with the officials.

It has been planned that the officials would hold meetings with at least 12-15 companies per day and by the end of a week, issues relating to 100 companies would get resolved.

Before the launch of the MoU Week, ministers and higher officials of the industries department would hold a review meeting to understand the current status of MoUs with various companies.

The state government had issued permission to 211 companies through SIPB, which would draw Rs 8.75 lakh crore investments and provide jobs to 8.35 lakh people. Of these, action plan has been prepared for foundation works of 58 projects.

In the Partnership Summit held in Vizag, 538 companies signed pacts with the government. These companies are estimated to bring in Rs 11.38 lakh crore investment and provide employment to 14.03 lakh people. Officials of the industries department identified 165 MoUs could draw more than Rs 1,000 crore investment each and have decided to approve permissions to those firms through SIPB and expedite the grounding works.
