AP launches One Family, One Entrepreneur initiative

Aim is also to combat poverty, and simultaneously create more employment opportunities through more of individual initiatives

Visakhapatnam:The Andhra Pradesh government on Friday unveiled a "One Family, One Entrepreneur" initiative. It aims at uplifting the state's 1.4 crore families living in poverty by fostering entrepreneurship and enhancing financial inclusion, particularly among rural women.

A landmark Green Tech investment of `10 lakh crore will be instrumental in providing resources for over 250 families per lakh crore invested, an official document stated.

With a population of over 5.32 crore, Andhra Pradesh is home to 1.4 crore families, of which 12.6 lakh are poor. Nearly 41 lakh children are under the age of four, underscoring the urgent need for a holistic approach to health, education, and employment. The state's rural population of 3.35 crore faces major challenges. The gender balance of 2.66 crore males and 2.66 crore females presents a significant opportunity to drive gender-inclusive growth, it noted.

The initiative is designed to create a robust framework for poverty reduction, economic empowerment and the promotion of entrepreneurship across diverse communities.

One major aim is to address the unemployment rate, with over 15.6 lakh individuals in the state currently jobless. Of these, 9 lakh youths are aged between 15 and 29.

The young population of Andhra Pradesh — specifically those aged 15 to 34 years, making up nearly 146 lakh individuals — will be pivotal in driving the state's future growth. By offering robust strategies for smart healthcare, well-being, education, skill development and job creation, the initiative aims to build a vibrant, healthy, and productive society, the official document claimed.

It said, “One of the most transformative components of the initiative is the creation of the Unified Loan Infrastructure (ULI) for rural women. This system, built on Aadhaar-linked virtual credit cards, provides women with access to formal credit and group-based loans, helping bridge the credit gap that has traditionally kept them dependent on exploitative moneylenders.”

The initiative also aims at strategic partnerships with organisations such as GAME COM and Foundation, which can play a vital role in advancing women’s entrepreneurship and supporting MSMEs. By engaging with high-net-worth individuals (HNIs) and incorporating Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects, the initiative aims to create a sustainable ecosystem for small businesses and entrepreneurship, particularly in rural areas.
