AP GST Collections Rise 21% to ₹13,283 Crore Till July
The Commercial Taxes Department attributed the strong performance to the extensive use of artificial intelligence and advanced data analytics

VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh recorded a 21 per cent year-on-year increase in net GST collections during the first four months of the 2026–27 financial year, with revenues touching `13,283 crore by the end of July, outperforming the national growth rate of 17 per cent.
Overall commercial tax collections rose 20 per cent to `20,466 crore during the period, reflecting higher economic activity, improved tax compliance and technology-driven enforcement.
Releasing the figures on Saturday, Chief Commissioner of State Tax Babu A said the growth was achieved despite GST 2.0 rate rationalisation, which reduced tax rates in several sectors while simplifying compliance.
In July alone, commercial tax collections increased 14 per cent to `5,105 crore from `4,494 crore a year earlier, while net GST collections rose 12 per cent to `3,268 crore, marking the fourth consecutive month of year-on-year growth.
The Centre also settled `1,993.83 crore in Integrated GST (IGST) dues to Andhra Pradesh during July, the third-highest monthly settlement received by the state. The amount was 17.04 per cent higher than the `1,703.55 crore received in July 2025.
Petroleum VAT collections rose 18 per cent to ₹1,686 crore, while profession tax collections increased 13 per cent to ₹49.71 crore, aided by Aadhaar integration and an expanded taxpayer base.
Among the southern states, Andhra Pradesh recorded GST growth of 21.43 per cent, ahead of Telangana (19.76 per cent), Tamil Nadu (18.47 per cent) and Odisha (5.98 per cent). Only Karnataka posted a higher growth at 23.57 per cent.
The Commercial Taxes Department attributed the strong performance to the extensive use of artificial intelligence and advanced data analytics. AI-based scrutiny of GST returns, machine-learning risk assessment, Aadhaar authentication, UPI-based analytics and inter-departmental data sharing helped improve compliance and curb fraudulent input tax credit claims.
According to the department, real estate, construction, electrical machinery, engineering goods, iron and steel, and bullion and jewellery were the key contributors to revenue growth during July.
"The department has made technology the cornerstone of its enforcement strategy. AI-powered scrutiny, predictive analytics, Aadhaar-based verification and inter-departmental data sharing have strengthened compliance and protected state revenues," Babu A said.
He expressed confidence that expanding AI-based enforcement and data-driven verification would help Andhra Pradesh sustain revenue growth and achieve its enhanced collection target for 2026–27.
