Consequently, the 12th day of Rabi-ul-Awwal, which marks Milad-un-Nabi, falls on Wednesday, August 26, according to the lunar calendar.

VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh government on Thursday issued orders revising the public holiday for Milad-un-Nabi, shifting it from August 25 to August 26, 2026.

According to G.O.Rt. No. 1675 issued by the general administration (Political-B) department on August 20, the modification was notified under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.

The decision followed a report submitted by the chief executive officer of the Andhra Pradesh State Wakf Board, which informed the government that the crescent moon marking the beginning of Rabi-ul-Awwal had not been sighted on August 12.

Consequently, the 12th day of Rabi-ul-Awwal, which marks Milad-un-Nabi, falls on Wednesday, August 26, according to the lunar calendar.

The government has accordingly modified its earlier order, G.O.Rt. No. 2277 dated December 4, 2025, which had fixed the public holiday for August 25.
