The government has appointed Kumar Vishwajeet, Principal Secretary, Home Department, as the Inquiry Authority, as per a Government Order issued by Chief Secretary G Sai Prasad on Tuesday.
Sanjay has been accused of misappropriation and misuse of public funds in the work, development and maintenance of the AGNI (Automated Governance & NoC Integration) web portal, besides other alleged irregularities, while serving as Director General of the Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Response & Fire Services.
He has been accused of misappropriating funds allocated for training police personnel to create awareness among members of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes about the rights of victims and provisions of the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, while serving as additional director general of police in the CID.
Government, after careful examination of the matter, has decided to conduct a regular inquiry into the charges framed against the said MoS (Sanjay) under Rule 8(2) of All India Services (Discipline & Appeal) Rules, 1969, as per the GO.
The Inquiring Authority shall conduct an inquiry into the charges framed against Sanjay, a 1996-batch IPS officer, and furnish its report to the government within the prescribed time limit, the chief secretary said. Although the government had directed Sanjay to submit a written statement of defence, he failed to do so, according to the GO.
