AP Governor Exhorts Students to Develop Independent Analytical Thinking

Kakinada: Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer exhorted students to develop analytical thinking and independent judgement as part of their quest for knowledge.
Presiding over the combined XVI and XVII convocations of the Adikavi Nannaya University at Velugubanda in Rajanagaram mandal of East Godavari district on Friday, Abdul Nazeer, as chancellor of AP universities, said knowledge should transform them into global citizens empathetic towards others, while remaining firmly rooted in values and tradition.
The Governor emphasised that there is no shortcut to success. “Setting goals and objectives is the first and foremost step towards achieving success. Hard work is another essential ingredient without which the goals set cannot be achieved,” Abdul Nazeer underlined.
He pointed out that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 aims to achieve 50 per cent Gross Enrolment Ratio in higher education by 2035, establish multidisciplinary education and research universities, with options for multiple entry and exit for flexible and lifelong learning, integrate Indian knowledge systems, and launch an Academic Bank of Credits, among others.
Participating as a chief guest at the convocation, founder vice chancellor of Central University of Sikkim Mahendra P. Lama said transformative developments are taking place in science and technology, history is being rewritten amidst new explorations and fresh revelations, environment and ecology are under severe threats, and human societies are under tremendous pressures.
Lama asked the Adikavi Nannaya University (ANU) to follow five important ideologies, including setting its own standards in terms of governance, administration, inclusiveness, and overall orientations; designing its own variety of academic programmes, credit-based courses, research agenda, admission policy, and evaluation techniques; setting the highest standard for recruiting teachers and staff members; and entering into collaborative programmes and projects with national and global Institutions.
ANU vice chancellor V. Prasanna Sri said theirs is the only state university that has achieved cent per cent geo-tagging of its campus flora, identifying over 2,000 species of plants, including several of significant medicinal value, thereby contributing to environmental conservation as well as preservation of traditional knowledge systems.
