Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh government is set to launch its Garuda scheme for providing financial relief to poor Brahmin families.

Under the scheme, the state government will immediately extend a financial assistance of Rs 10,000 to families of poor Brahmins in the event of a death. The support will help bereaved families cope with the hardship during their difficult time, BC and EWS Welfare Minister S. Savita said.

The minister underlined that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has consistently accorded priority to the welfare of Brahmin community. She pointed out that the CM established the Brahmin Corporation in 2014 with the objective of eradicating poverty among Brahmins by promoting self-employment and economic empowerment.
