AP Government Hikes Number of Divisions in All Municipal Corporations of State

In this regard, the government has amended the Andhra Pradesh Municipal Corporations (Fixation of Strength of Elected members) Rules, 2005.

Anantapur:The Municipal Administration department of AP has issued a GO increasing the number of divisions in the municipal corporations across the state on Wednesday.

In this regard, the government has amended the Andhra Pradesh Municipal Corporations (Fixation of Strength of Elected members) Rules, 2005.

The increase in the number of divisions is expected to change the existing political equations in all the corporations and impact the mayoral elections as well.

The GVMC presently has 98 divisions. These have been increased to 120 divisions. The number of divisions in Vijayawada Municipal Corporation will go up from 64 to 86. The Guntur Corporation will have 19 additional divisions, with the existing 57 divisions going up to 76 divisions.

Likewise, the number of divisions in Nellore Municipal Corporation has been increased by 18. The seats in Kurnool and Tirupati and Kadapa corporations have gone up by 16. The divisions in Eluru, Anantapur and Ongole Municipal corporations have gone up by 12.

Municipal Administration commissioner and director Dr. P. Sampath Kumar has issued the order increasing the number of divisions in corporations across the state.
