AP Government Giving Priority to Sports: Bharath

Minister says Kurnool stadium will get world-class facilities, and the hostel will remain.

Kurnool: Minister for Industries and Commerce T.G. Bharath on Monday said the state government was giving priority to the promotion of sports and development of sports infrastructure.

The minister, along with MP Bastipati Nagaraju and Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) chairman A. Ravi Naidu, held a review meeting on sports infrastructure development.

Speaking on the occasion, Bharath said the government was committed to encouraging sports activities across the state and urged people to take up daily physical exercise.

He clarified that the sports hostel would continue to function in Kurnool and would not be shifted. He also assured that world-class facilities would be developed at the Kurnool stadium.

Later, the minister set the foundation stone for expansion of the Rythu Bazaar at B-Camp. He said the expansion works, being taken up at a cost of `6 crore, would significantly benefit farmers and were expected to be completed within nine months.

The minister further said a High Court bench and new collectorate buildings would also be constructed in the B-Camp area.
