AP Frames Charges Against Suspended IPS Officer Over Foreign Visits
Six violations cited, including travel to UAE, UK, and USA without proper clearance

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government has initiated disciplinary proceedings against suspended senior IPS officer P.V. Sunil Kumar by framing six articles of charge over unauthorised foreign visits during his tenure as additional DG, CID, and director general of AP State Disaster Response and Fire Services.
Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand issued the order on Thursday.
The charges include securing permission to visit Georgia while actually travelling to the UAE; visiting Sweden and the USA without requisite government approval; and visiting the UK despite having permission to travel to the USA. Another charge relates to a UAE visit without prior approval. In total, six violations have been cited.
The state government has directed Sunil Kumar to submit a written statement of defence and indicate whether he wishes to be heard in person within 30 days of receiving the order. An inquiry will be conducted only for charges not admitted. The government warned that failure to respond may lead to further action and cautioned against exerting political or external influence to advance his interests.
