Exhibitors of single theatres accused the AP Film Chamber of neglecting the problems of single theatre owners

Kakinada: Cinema theatres are facing a huge crisis as audiences are preferring other platforms like OTT. Further, producers are hugely discriminating against theatres by giving them a far less percentage than Imax theatres.
Exhibitors of single theatres accused the AP Film Chamber of neglecting the problems of single theatre owners. They requested the film chamber to take initiative and provide single theatres at least half the percentage of what Imax theatres get.
East Godavari District Exhibitors Association president Kolla Achuta Rama Rao told Deccan Chronicle that theatres are facing a severe financial crisis. Already, hundreds of theatres have closed in the state. Some more theatres will face the same fate soon.
He requested the state government to recognise theatres as an Industry. Instead, the government is considering theatres as a business and imposed a power bill of Rs.18 per unit. He requested the government to provide subsidies to theatres in power and taxes.
