AP Expedites Land Acquisition For Railway Doubling Project, Informs PM Modi

Sai Prasad said a total of 23.07 hectares of private land is required in Andhra Pradesh for the Dhone–Mahbubnagar railway project

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad on Wednesday informed Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the state government has expedited land acquisition and transfer of government land for the Mudkhed–Medchal–Mahbubnagar–Dhone railway doubling project within Andhra Pradesh limits.
The Chief Secretary briefed the Prime Minister during the PRAGATI video conference chaired by Modi in New Delhi to review major infrastructure projects and national scheme implementation across the country.
Sai Prasad said a total of 23.07 hectares of private land is required in Andhra Pradesh for the Dhone–Mahbubnagar railway project. He said the Section 20(A) notification for land acquisition was issued on September 25, 2025.
In Kurnool district, about 18.21 hectares of land across 16 villages in four mandals is required for the project. Peg marking has been completed in eight villages with the cooperation of railway authorities, while work is continuing in the remaining villages.
He said the Section 20(E) notification would be issued within two weeks.
In Nandyal district, peg marking for the required 4.86 hectares has been completed and the 20(E) notification has already been issued, he said.
The Chief Secretary further informed that 4.05 hectares of government land is to be transferred for the project. District collectors will hand over advance possession immediately after receiving formal requisitions from railway authorities, in line with government orders.
During the PRAGATI review, the Prime Minister also examined progress of several infrastructure projects, including railway lines in Uttar Pradesh and other states, Kolkata Metro expansion works, transmission projects linked to Rajasthan’s renewable energy systems, the Vadhavan Port connectivity road project in Maharashtra, Bharatmala highway projects, and implementation of Swachh Bharat Mission–Urban 2.0.
Union Cabinet Secretary Dr T.V. Somanathan, Railway Board Chairman and CEO Satish Kumar and other senior officials participated in the meeting from New Delhi. From Andhra Pradesh, senior officials from the Transport, Roads and Buildings, Revenue and Municipal Administration departments attended the video conference.
