Saddened by the incident and the light manner in which the college management treated the matter, the lecturer resigned from her position

Visakhapatnam: In a sensational incident, a girl student attacked a female lecturer with her chappel following the confiscation of her mobile phone.

The incident took place at the Raghu college campus near Dakammari on the Visakhapatnam-Vizianagaram national highway. The scene, captured on video by another student, went viral on social media. The second-year-engineering student’s action drew widespread condemnation.

According to eyewitnesses, the lecturer seized her mobile phone after observing that the girl was using the device on the campus in violation of the college’s rules. The student began verbally abusing the faculty member. In a fit of rage, she removed her footwear and assaulted the lecturer in full view of her classmates.

Other students intervened and tried to pacify her, but she continued with her aggressive behavior towards the teacher.

A spokesperson for the institution stated, "We don't want to escalate the matter. The parents have asked us not to register a case as it could damage her academic future.” He said a committee has been formed to determine whether the student should be permitted to remain with the institution.

Saddened by the incident and the light manner in which the college management treated the matter, the lecturer resigned from her position. The chairman of Raghu Institutions held a meeting with the teachers to resolve the issue.
