AP embraces deep technology to transform health care, says minister Yadav

Visakhapatnam: Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav has emphasized the transformative potential of deep technology in healthcare.

Addressing the Deep Tech Conclave on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning here on Friday, he explained how advanced technological solutions could revolutionize the healthcare system, through telemedicine services, disease monitoring, diagnostic processes, resource management and evidence-based policy development.
The minister acknowledged the challenges the government faced in delivering equitable and quality healthcare across the state. He highlighted the dual burden of communicable and non-communicable diseases.
He cited MIRA, a Medical Information Robotic Assistant that was recently introduced at the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology. This innovation exemplifies how deep technology can enhance medical professionals' capabilities, improve operational efficiency, and elevate patient care outcomes, he said.
Special chief secretary to Health, Krishna Babu, outlined the state's strategic shift towards digital technology and preventive healthcare. These strategies are vital for achieving the chief minister’s vision of creating a wealthy and healthy society by 2047. He also referred to the projected declines in fertility rates from 1.54 to 1.37. "Some 80 per cent of AP’s population is covered under health insurance schemes," he said.
He said over 5.5 crore health records in the state are linked across nearly 20,000 facilities to ensure continuity of care from primary to tertiary healthcare services. The state is also adopting innovative technolog
