AP Eagle Draws Up Four-Pillar Strategy To Curb Drugs
Strategy targets synthetic drugs, enforcement, prevention and youth awareness
Vijayawada: The AP EAGLE wing has drawn up a 2026-29 action plan to curb drug trafficking and consumption, with a particular focus on synthetic drugs, EAGLE chief and IGP Ake Ravikrishna said on Thursday.
Addressing around 700 students at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s Amaravati campus under “The EAGLE Mission – Break the Silence”, Ravikrishna said the strategy would focus on four areas — intelligence-led enforcement, precursor and synthetic-drug control, demand and harm reduction, and capacity building and inter-departmental coordination.
Under the proposed “Nasha Mukt Vidyalaya” programme, a 500-metre radius around schools would be treated as a drug-free zone, with headmasters and nodal teachers helping report suspicious activities.
A 100-week “Nasha Mukt Yuva – Viksit Bharat” awareness drive, launched on August 2, targets 10,000 locations, more than one crore youth and 125 partner organisations, he said.
Ravikrishna said drug trafficking was linked to organised crime, hawala, money laundering, cyber networks and terror financing. He stressed technology-based surveillance and investigation, including monitoring drones, online communications and digital payments.
The EAGLE wing would coordinate action under the NDPS Act, UAPA, PMLA, PIT-NDPS Act and Customs Act, including tracing and attachment of illicit assets.
The presentation said 1,48,063 drug cases were registered nationwide in 2025, including 447 by the NCB.
