AP DGP emphasises combating cybercrime & ganja cultivation

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Director-General of Police (DGP) Dwaraka Tirumala Rao has expressed concern over the rising incidence of cybercrimes in the state, mirroring a nationwide trend. He stated that the state government is actively planning countermeasures, including the establishment of dedicated cybercrime police stations in every district. He spoke to media in Srikakulam on Tuesday.

The DGP highlighted the importance of expert assistance and public awareness in combating cybercrime. He urged citizens to exercise extreme caution and avoid paying any money to unknown callers. "Understanding the modus operandi of cybercriminals is crucial in effectively curbing these offenses," he emphasised.
Furthermore, the state government has formed a five-member cabinet committee to address the issue of ganja cultivation and trafficking. The DGP affirmed the government's commitment to leveraging technology to enhance law enforcement capabilities. "We aim to install one lakh CCTV cameras across the state by March 1," he announced.
