AP DGP Calls For United Fight To Make India Drug-Free

Drug menace has become a serious challenge for the country: Reports

VIJAYAWADA: “Drug menace has become a serious challenge for the country. A drug-free India can be achieved only when all states come together on a common platform and launch a united fight,” Andhra Pradesh director-general of police Harish Kumar Gupta said on Thursday.

He flagged off a national motorcycle campaign with the theme ‘Fight Against Drugs’ at the police headquarters in Mangalagiri, ahead of the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas 2026, marking the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on October 31.
The motorcyclists will spread awareness about the dangers of narcotic drugs and substance abuse among youth. They will mobilise public support for a drug-free India. Police personnel from various states and central forces, including the CRPF, are participating in the motorcycle campaign.
Harish Kumar Gupta said the initiative would highlight the need to protect young people and the country's future from drug abuse. He appreciated AP EAGLE (Elite Anti-Drug Group for Law Enforcement) for its preventive measures and awareness campaigns over the past two years. He said the state had made significant progress in tackling the drug menace. The campaign would continue until its objective is achieved.
The motorcyclists, who have started from Vijayawada / Amaravati on Thursday, will pass through Suryapet, Hyderabad, Humnabad, Solapur, Indapur, Pune, Mumbai, Daman, and Bharuch before reaching Ekta Nagar in Gujarat on October 31.
The riders will interact with students and youth along the route to highlight the harmful effects of narcotics and the need to prevent drug trafficking.
Those who attended the flag-off ceremony included additional DGP N. Madhusudan Reddy, IGP Ch. Srikanth, AP EAGLE IGP Aake Ravikrishna, and senior police officers.
