AP Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan Welcomes Kumki Elephants in Amaravati
Of the six kumki elephants, two—Jayanth and Abhimanyu—are being shifted to the Guchimi camp in Parvathipuram. The elephants underwent special training at the Palamaner Elephant Camp before their deployment.
Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Forests, Environment, and Wildlife welcomed the kumki elephants at his camp office in Amaravati on Friday as they were being transported to Parvathipuram for deployment in forest and wildlife management operations. Pawan Kalyan welcomed the kumki elephants by showering flower petals on them during their journey and fed them.
Pawan Kalyan instructed forest officials to ensure the proper care of the kumki elephants and directed them to take all necessary measures to help the animals adapt to the environment in Parvathipuram.

The trained kumki elephants have been deployed to help control a herd of wild elephants that has been damaging agricultural fields in the parts of Palnadu, Chittoor, Alluri Sitarama Raju (ASR), and other districts.
Wild elephants crossing into Andhra Pradesh from the Odisha border have been causing extensive damage to agricultural fields and posing a threat to residents in the Vizianagaram and Parvathipuram Manyam districts.
Earlier, Andhra Pradesh depended on kumki elephants brought from Karnataka for such operations. The state government has now begun training its own elephants to strengthen its wildlife management and human-elephant conflict mitigation efforts.
