AP Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan Welcomes Kumki Elephants in Amaravati
Of the six kumki elephants, two—Jayanth and Abhimanyu—are being shifted to the Guchimi camp in Parvathipuram. The elephants underwent special training at the Palamaner Elephant Camp before their deployment.
Vijayawada: Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan welcomed two Kumki elephants at his camp office at Mangalagiri while they were being transported to Gutchmi elephant camp from the Palamaneru in Chittoor district on Friday.
The Dy CM showered flowers and offered food to them and later flagged off the vehicle transporting them to the Gutchmi elephant camp in Parvathipuram Manyam district.
He said that Kumki elephants Jayanth and Abhimanyu would control man-elephant conflicts in parts of Parvathipuram Manyam district and provide safety to the people as also protection to the crops.
He discussed with the forest officials the steps to ensure safety to the pachyderms while in transit.
Notably, herds of elephants from border areas of Odisha were entering the Parvathipuram Manyam district and going on a rampage by destroying crops and properties. The state government, as part of its strategy to control man-elephant conflict, shifted the kumkis to control them.
