AP CM N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday offered prayers to Goddess Kanaka Durga at the Indrakeeladri temple, seeking abundant rainfall and prosperity for the state

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday offered prayers to Goddess Kanaka Durga at the Indrakeeladri temple, seeking abundant rainfall, prosperity for the state, and improved living standards for its people. Naidu, accompanied by his wife Nara Bhuvaneshwari, offered silk clothes and traditional offerings to the Goddess and extended Dasara Navaratri greetings to the people of the state.

"I prayed to Goddess Kanaka Durga for abundant rainfall in Andhra Pradesh, prosperity for its people, eradication of poverty and improved living standards, and for the state to become a healthy, wealthy and happy society," Naidu said.
He said the temple board and officials were organising the festivities efficiently while ensuring that devotees faced no inconvenience.
Around eight lakh devotees had darshan of the Goddess over six days, he said, adding that people of all ages, from children to the elderly, were visiting the temple to seek her blessings.
Naidu noted that Vijayawada Utsav 2.0 and the National Saras Mela were being held in the city. He described it as a positive development that Vijayawada's Dasara celebrations had emerged as one of the prominent festivals in the country.
Vijayawada Utsav, the flagship cultural festival of Andhra Pradesh, brings together the city's traditions and contemporary talent, transforming Vijayawada into a cultural hub with music and performances across the city.
The Saras Aajeevika Mela, a flagship national fair organised by the Ministry of Rural Development to economically empower rural women and promote sustainable livelihoods, showcases rural India's handloom textiles, handicrafts and regional cuisine.
Earlier, Naidu and his wife arrived at the Kanaka Durga temple, where they were welcomed with traditional honours. Temple Sthanacharyulu (chief priest) Shiva Prasad Sharma adorned the CM with the traditional ceremonial headgear, Pariveshtam.
The couple entered the temple carrying silk clothes and traditional offerings for the Goddess and performed special pujas amid Vedic chants by priests. Priests later chanted Vedic blessings at the Ashirvachana Mandapam, where Executive Officer Sheena Nayak presented the CM with the Goddess's sheshavastram (sacred cloth offered to the deity).
