Vijayawada: A grand Tiranga Rally is set to take place in Vijayawada on Friday (May 16), with 5,000 participants joining to celebrate the Indian Army’s triumphant Operation Sindoor. The rally will be attended by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, state ministers, legislators, and other dignitaries.

NTR district collector Dr. G. Lakshmisha, who convened a teleconference with officials on Thursday, said the rally is part of nationwide celebrations initiated by the central and state governments to honour the valiant efforts of the Indian Armed Forces. “Victory rallies like this will reflect our unity and the gratitude of every citizen toward our soldiers,” he noted.

The rally will commence at 5 pm from Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium and proceed toward Benz Circle, with enthusiastic chants of "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" expected to resonate through the streets. A 500-meter-long national flag, carried by students, will be a major highlight, symbolising collective national pride.

Dr Lakshmisha directed officials to ensure flawless arrangements, including the distribution of national flags to all participants and the playing of the national anthem and patriotic songs via DJ sound systems. Cultural programmes, including Tappetagullu, Garagalu dance, drum performances, and other traditional art forms, will be held at key junctions. Also, he asked for drinking water stalls and temporary medical camps along the rally route.
