AP CM Inaugurates Rs 100 Crore Mother-Child Healthcare Center In Guntur

Funded by donations from Guntur Medical College's former students, the five-storey centre spans 2.7 lakh sq ft and houses 600 beds.

Guntur: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday inaugurated a Rs 100-crore maternal and child healthcare centre at the Government General Hospital in the city.

Funded by donations from Guntur Medical College's (GMC) former students, the Dr Kanuri – Gymkhana Mother and Child Hospital is a five-storey centre built on an area of 2.7 lakh sq ft and equipped with 600 beds.
Addressing the inauguration meeting, Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav said the Rs 100 crore donation for the centre by GMC former students could be the 'largest' such donation by an alumni association in the country.
The foundation stone was laid in 2018 and the state government has sanctioned an additional Rs 27 crore for medical equipment, furniture and other essential facilities.
