New Railway Zone Will Transform North Andhra's Transport Landscape: AP CM

With the new railway zone, the railway infrastructure will improve, along with the introduction of new trains and better employment prospects in the region.

Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed happiness over the release of the Gazette notification by the Railway Ministry for the establishment of the South Coast Railway Zone with Visakhapatnam as its headquarters. He stated that this marks the fulfillment of a long-cherished dream of the people of Andhra Pradesh.

Responding on social media platform X, the Chief Minister thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for issuing the historic Gazette in response to the state’s request.
He announced that the new railway zone will officially commence operations from June 1 with Visakhapatnam as its headquarters. As part of the reorganisation of the Waltair Division, key sections such as Palasa–Ichchapuram will be merged into the Visakhapatnam Division, which is expected to significantly transform the transport landscape of North Andhra.

The Chief Minister further noted that improved coordination between the newly formed Visakhapatnam division and Raigad division will strengthen the railways. He expressed confidence that the development will contribute significantly to the overall growth of the state, particularly boosting industrial development in North Andhra.
