AP CM Calls for El Niño Preparedness, Better Services in Remote Areas
Urges awareness among farmers on El Niño's impact and asks government employees to improve performance to meet public expectations.
Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to bring awareness among farmers over the impact of El Niño. In view of forecasts indicating a strong El Niño impact throughout the year, the Chief Minister instructed officials to strengthen the measures already in place and intensify awareness efforts among farmers. He said farmers should be informed about the likely consequences of El Niño and encouraged to adopt suitable alternative crops wherever necessary. He also instructed the agriculture department to effectively implement the Crop Insurance action plan.
During a review meeting at Real Time Governance Society (RTGS) Centre in Secretariat on Monday, the Chief Minister assessed the performance of various departments.
The Chief Minister observed that there are still gaps in the delivery of government services in remote areas of the State. Referring to feedback received from the public during his recent visit to Alur Assembly constituency, he stressed that government employees' performance must align with the expectations and needs of the people.The Chief Minister also referred to the tragic incident of suicide of Shivani, a meritorious student from Rampachodavaram and expressed deep anguish over the incident. Officials informed the Chief Minister that the School Education Department has initiated measures to conduct psychometric assessments to monitor students' mental well-being. The Chief Minister directed officials to engage mental health experts for proper evaluation and ensure that teachers receive adequate training to identify and support students facing psychological stress.
Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy, Chief Secretary G Sai Prasad, Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta and senior officials participated in the review meeting.
