AP Clears Land For Visakhapatnam Google AI Hub Logistics Park

The project, to be executed by Ecobox Industrial Asset IV Pvt Ltd for ₹55 lakh per acre: Reports

VISAKHAPATNAM: Google’s proposed India AI Hub here has received a major boost with the state government approving the allotment of 91.38 acres in Kanamam village, Anandapuram mandal, for development of a logistics and light industrial park.

The project, to be executed by Ecobox Industrial Asset IV Pvt Ltd for ₹55 lakh per acre, involves an investment of ₹1,008 crore and is expected to generate nearly 5,000 jobs.

According to a GO, Google has identified Ecobox, through Logicap Holdings, as its preferred development partner for the logistics infrastructure required for the AI Hub. Subject to final agreements, the company plans to utilise the park in phases to meet warehousing, logistics and service requirements of the data centre campus.

The order also grants Google the first right of refusal to purchase all or a part of the site and facilities that are once operational. If facilities planned for the later phases are not required, Ecobox may lease or sell the remaining space to third parties in accordance with the approved land use.

The project will include about five to seven acres earmarked for the networking and connectivity infrastructure to support the broader data centre ecosystem.

The park will have a built-up area of 19.45 lakh sq-ft across 44.65 acres, comprising three warehouse blocks, a light manufacturing unit, a data centre and allied activities block, and an administrative building. The warehouse blocks will together provide 14.68 lakh sq-ft of space, while the light manufacturing unit will cover 2.42 lakh sq-ft., the data centre and allied activities block 1.90 lakh sq-ft, and the administrative building 45,000 sq-ft.

The proposal received clearance from the state investment promotion board following recommendations of the investment panel.

The VMRD has been directed to develop a 24‑metre‑wide master-plan road to the site, while Ecobox will bear proportionate costs if it opts to construct a 3-km peripheral road through APIIC.

The logistics park is part of the ecosystem planned for Google’s 15-billion-dollar India AI Hub here, which is expected to have a 1‑gigawatt data centre capacity spread across nearly 600 acres in Visakhapatnam and Anakapalli.

Developed with infrastructure partners AdaniConneX and Nxtra by Airtel, the campus is expected to leverage upcoming subsea cable connectivity.
