The Andhra Pradesh state cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, approved a proposal to designate Amaravati as the capital in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, replacing the previous reference to the capital of undivided Andhra Pradesh. The resolution will be forwarded to the central government for approval.
In the cabinet meeting held at the Secretariat, several key decisions were made. The cabinet expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for initiating Amaravati’s reconstruction and endorsed decisions from the 47th CRDA meeting, including land allotments for institutions in the capital.
The cabinet reviewed welfare schemes such as "Talli ki Vandanam" and "Annadatta Sukhibhava" and discussed coastal security, defense industry precautions, and border tensions. CM Naidu held detailed discussions on security in Visakhapatnam, Machilipatnam, and Nagaland, urging ministers to prioritize coastal safety.
The cabinet approved increased financial aid for fishermen during the fishing ban period and plans for mega tourism events. The municipal department greenlit 281 infrastructure projects under the hybrid annuity system. Additionally, the cabinet decided to withdraw three amendment bills pending at the Centre, passed during the YSRCP regime.
The cabinet lauded the armed forces for Operation Sindoor, appreciating its name for resonating with national sentiment, and resolved to assign meaningful names to state welfare schemes.
