Andhra Pradesh Cabinet Nod for Three New Districts; Total at 29
The final gazette notification is anticipated to be released within two days.

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet has given its approval for formation of three new districts -- Mandapalle, Markapuram and Polavaram --taking the total number of districts to 29 from the present 26.
This followed the issue of a gazette notification on the reorganisation of districts on November 27 and receipt and consideration of the objections to the proposals. The process lasted till December 27.
A gazette notification would be issued on December 31 to create the three new districts. The resultant changes would come into effect with immediate effect.
Revenue minister Anagani Satya Prasad, civil supplies minister Nadendla Manohar and health minister Satya Kumar Yadav briefed the media on the decisions of the e-cabinet meeting on Monday.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu presided over the weekly meeting.
Against the present lot of 26 districts, proposals were received for changes in the composition and areas of 17 districts. Accordingly, 25 changes were made in 17 districts. No change has been made in relation to the nine districts of Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram Manyam, Visakhapatnam, Eluru, NTR, Kishna, Guntur, Palnadu and Anantapur, the ministers said.
The Rampachodavaram assembly segment has been reorganised as Polavaram district while the Polavaram village would be developed into a revenue division.
Three mandals in Guduru, including Kota, Chilakuru and Guduru are brought into Nellore. The Samarlakota mandal has been shifted to Peddapuram, and Mandapeta to Rajamahendravaram. Penugonda in West Godavari district has been renamed as Vasavi Penugonda.
The Addanki assembly segment --from Bapatla—would be shifted into Prakasam district. Entire Darsi assembly segment is retained in Addanki sub-division, to be within Prakasam district.
The new Markapur district has been created by merging Markapuram, Kanigiri, Yerragondapalem and Giddalur into it.
The Cabinet also decided to hift Railway Koduru to Tirupati district and Rajampet to Kadapa district.
While forming the new Madanapalle district, the Rayachoti assembly segment has been retained in Annamayya district and Madanapalle is declared as the district headquarter.
Banaganipalle would be developed as a subdivision and Addaroad in Anakapalli district as a subdivision. Siddavatam and Vontimitta would remain in Kadapa district while Madakasira would be developed as a revenue subdivision.
By adding a mandal to Adoni, the government created Adoni-1 and Adoni-2.
The Cabinet meeting witnessed an unusual development. Transport minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy was in tears over a proposal to change Annamayya district’s capital Rayachoti. The chief minister intervened and explained the technical difficulties involved, if Rayachoti was not changed to be the capital for Annamayya district.
Naidu instead promised to ensure development of Rayachoti, which the minister represents in the state assembly.
Land lease: The Cabinet approved the leasing out of 9.96 acres government land to the director of horticulture and sericulture wing to set up the Indian Institute of Plant Management. The lease is for 33 years.
The Cabinet approved revival of three years’ lease period for 9.88 acres of land in survey number 972 at Katrenikona village of the BR Ambedkar Konaseema district to Vedanta Ltd for onshore drilling activity.
It confirmed a proposal to permit the APCRDA commissioner to avail a loan of Rs 7,387.70 crore under the infrastructure development assistance scheme from NABARD for developing the basic amenities in Amaravati.
The Cabinet approved a proposal for construction of an underground drainage and sewage treatment plant with an outlay of Rs 1,673.51 crore in Mangalagiri-Tadepalli municipal corporation.
It approved orders issued by the finance department on October 20 and 21 to enhance DA/DR for government employees and pensioners with retrospective effect from January 1, 2024.
Approval has also been given for issue of an ordinance amending the AP Village Secretariats and Ward Secretariats Act, 2023 for change of nomenclature.
Road safety cess: Approval has also been granted for an ordinance for levying a road safety cess at the rate of 10 per cent on the life tax of motor vehicles.
The Cabinet approved the proposal from the municipal administration and urban development department to give administrative sanction for Rs 137 crore to the L1 bidder Larsen and Toubro to award a contract for issue of tender for designing and building the Amaravati Quantum Computing Centre in Amaravati.
