AP Cabinet Approves Sri City International University
The university is mandated to provide at least 35 per cent of seats under the government quota with regard to non-medical courses.

Tirupati: The state cabinet has approved the establishment of Sri City International University (SIU), a new institution that plans to combine classroom education with industry experience right from the first year of study.
The university will be established by the Sri City Education Foundation with a proposed investment of about Rs 250 crore. Human Resources Development Minister Nara Lokesh is scheduled to formally launch SIU’s temporary campus in Sri City on July 2.
Unlike conventional universities that focus on classroom-based instruction, SIU plans to mix academic learning with workplace exposure throughout the students’ study period. SIU pro-vice chancellor Prof K. Nagabhushan Raju said the university has been designed around a model that encourages students to spend significant time in real industrial and business environments while pursuing their academics.
According to Prof. Raju, students will begin interacting with industries early in their academic journey instead of waiting until the final year. The university plans to provide opportunities for workplace learning throughout the course, so that students are better prepared for employment after graduation.
"Internships will be introduced from the first year itself as part of the curriculum. The university also plans to integrate artificial intelligence into teaching, learning, and workplace applications across different disciplines," the pro-VC disclosed.
Admissions during the 2026–27 academic year will initially start with B. Tech programmes in Computer Science and Engineering, and Manufacturing Engineering. BBA programmes in Finance and Accounting and Digital Marketing and Communications will also be available.
To facilitate the establishment of Sri City International University, the government has issued an ordinance approving amendments to the Andhra Pradesh Private Universities Act, 2016. The university is mandated to provide at least 35 per cent of seats under the government quota with regard to non-medical courses.
